Locked out after too many sign-in attempts
What to do when Attendex temporarily blocks sign-in after several wrong passwords.
On this page
To protect your account from password guessing, Attendex pauses sign-in for a short time after several wrong passwords in a row. This is temporary and nothing is wrong with your account.
What you see
- "Too many failed sign-in attempts. Try again in … or reset your password."
- or "Invalid email or password. Too many failed attempts — wait … before trying again, or reset your password."
The message tells you how long to wait.
Fix it
Choose one:
- Wait for the time shown, then sign in carefully with the correct password.
- Or reset your password straight away: click Forgot?, request a link and set a new password. See Reset a forgotten password. After a reset, earlier failed attempts no longer count against you.
Avoid it next time
- Check Caps Lock and your keyboard language before typing.
- Use a password manager so the saved password is always correct.
- Make sure you're on the right portal and company address — trying an admin password on the employee page counts as a failed attempt.
Still locked out?
- If you keep getting locked out without having typed a wrong password, someone else may be trying your account. Reset your password and tell your administrator.
- API integrations have their own limit. If an integration sends too many wrong keys, it gets a
429error for a short time — see Send punches with the Mark Attendance API.
