How to read a payslip
Understand each part of an Attendex payslip — days, earnings (A), contributions (B), taxes and deductions (C) and net pay.
On this page
Every payslip follows the same layout. This guide explains each section so employees and admins can check a payslip quickly.
Header and days
- Employee details — employee number, date joined, department, designation, payment mode, masked bank account, UAN, PF number, masked PAN and pay date.
- Day boxes — Total working days, Loss of pay days, Days payable and Actual payable days. If you worked overtime, OT hours is shown too.
Net pay = A − B − C
| Part | What it contains |
|---|---|
| Earnings — Total Earnings (A) | Salary components earned this month (pro-rated for loss of pay), overtime, bonuses and other one-time earnings, arrears and expense reimbursements |
| Contributions — Total Contributions (B) | Your PF, voluntary PF (VPF) and your ESI share |
| Taxes & Deductions — Total Taxes & Deductions (C) | Professional tax, income tax (TDS), labour welfare fund, loan EMIs, deduction-rule charges and other deductions |
The last line, Net Salary Payable (A − B − C), is what you receive. If your company rounds net pay to the rupee, the payslip notes the rounding adjustment.
Why earnings are lower than my salary
- Loss of pay — each LOP day reduces earnings by monthly salary ÷ the company's per-day basis (working days, calendar days, 30 or 26). The LOP amount is shown for information only — it is already taken out of earnings.
- Joined or left mid-month — you are paid only for days you were employed. Those days are not LOP.
- Salary revised mid-month — each salary is paid for the days it applied.
Admins can see the exact calculation under How this was calculated on the payslip — see Per-day salary basis, LOP and overtime.
Employer contributions
Employer PF, ESI and gratuity provision appear under Employer contributions (part of CTC, not deducted). They are not paid to you monthly and are not deducted from your pay.
The TDS on your payslip comes from your projected annual tax. See How TDS on salary is calculated.
