Attendance policy settings and office geofences
Configure double taps, nearest-shift matching, minimum overtime, web and mobile punching, remote clock-in approval, optional holidays and office geofences.
The attendance policy holds the organisation-wide rules for punching. You find it on the Shifts page.
Steps
- Go to Time & Attendance → Shifts ( open the policy).
- Click the Attendance policy tab.
- Change the settings below.
- Click Save policy.
The settings
| Setting | What it does |
|---|---|
| Double-tap window (min) | Punches closer together than this count as one tap. In the portal, a second punch inside the window is refused. |
| Nearest-shift threshold (min) | How far from a shift start a punch may be and still be matched to that shift. Further away, the punch is flagged Punch far from any shift start. |
| Minimum overtime (min) | Overtime shorter than this is ignored. |
| Geofence for web / mobile punch | Off, Allow, but flag punches outside, or Block punches outside. Applies only to web and mobile punches, never to the biometric device. |
| Optional holidays per year | How many optional holidays each employee may choose. See Holidays and weekly offs. |
| Web / mobile punch | Employees can punch from the portal. Turn it off if everyone must use the device. |
| Remote clock-in approval | Web / mobile clock-ins need manager or HR approval before they count. Off by default. See Approve remote clock-ins. |
Set up office geofences
A geofence is a circle around an office. It is used only when the geofence setting above is not Off.
- Make sure your office locations exist in organisation settings ( open Locations).
- On the Attendance policy tab, scroll to Office geofences.
- Enter the Latitude, Longitude and Radius (m, 0 = none) for each location.
- Click Save on that row.
Employees are checked against the geofence of their own location. Employees without a location are checked against any of your office geofences.
Use Allow, but flag punches outside for the first few weeks. You can see flagged days on the Attendance page and switch to Block once you trust the radius.
Penalisation policy
The same tab holds the Penalisation policy, which is off by default. See Attendance penalisation rules.
