Map employees to device user IDs

Each person enrolled on a ZKTeco device has a user ID (also called PIN). Attendex links a punch to an employee only through that employee's Biometric ID. Until an employee has one, their punches are logged but not counted.

Before you start

• Register the device first — see Connect a ZKTeco biometric device.
• Each Biometric ID must be unique within your organisation: 1–20 letters or digits.

Open the mapping screen

1. Go to Time & Attendance → Biometric Devices ( open Biometric Devices).
2. Click the Employee Mapping tab. The tab shows how many employees are mapped, for example 12/40.
3. In Employee Sync Dashboard, choose the device under -- Select Device --.

The counters show users On Device, employees In Software, Synced and Unmatched.

Set an employee's Biometric ID

1. Find the employee (use Search employees...).
2. For an employee with No Biometric ID, type the device user ID in the box and click Set.
3. To change an existing ID, click the ID, type the new one and click Save.

Match users who are already on the device

1. Click Fetch from Device. Attendex asks the device for its user list; the answer arrives on the device's next contact, usually within seconds.
2. Users that exist only on the device show as Only on Device with their PIN and name.
3. Use the Map to... list on that row to pick the employee. The employee gets that PIN as their Biometric ID.

If a user exists on the device but did not come through, click + Add Device User, enter the PIN and Name, and click Add.

Number everyone at once

1. Type a starting number in Start #.
2. Click Bulk Set IDs and confirm. All unmapped employees get sequential IDs from that number.

Send employees to the device

• Push on a row sends that employee (ID and name) to the device.
• Push All to Device sends every mapped employee.

Commands are delivered one per device check-in, so a large push takes a few minutes. The employee still has to enrol their fingerprint or face on the device itself.
