Device punches not showing up
Step-by-step checks when punches from a ZKTeco device don't appear in attendance.

Work through these checks in order when an employee punched on the device but the punch is not in their attendance.
1. Is the device online?
- Go to Time & Attendance → Biometric Devices ( open Biometric Devices).
- Look at the device on the Devices tab.
- ● Online — the device contacted Attendex in the last two minutes. Go to check 3.
- Offline with a recent Last seen — the device lost internet or power. Check its cable or Wi-Fi. It uploads stored punches when it reconnects.
- Never connected — the device has never reached Attendex. Check the ADMS settings on the device: server
adms.attendex.in, port80, HTTPS off. Make sure your network allows outgoing HTTP. See Connect a ZKTeco biometric device.
2. Is the serial number registered and enabled?
- The SN shown must match the device's serial number exactly. A typo means the device is treated as unknown and its punches are ignored.
- A red Disabled label means punches are refused. Click the enable button to turn it back on.
- If the device isn't listed at all, click Add Device and register it.
3. Did the punch arrive at all?
- Open the Punch Logs tab.
- Search for the time of the punch or the employee's device ID in Recent Punch Logs.
- The punch is in the log — Attendex received it. Go to check 4.
- Nothing from the device — go back to checks 1 and 2, then check 5.
4. Is the employee mapped?
A punch counts only when the device user ID matches an employee's Biometric ID.
- Open the Employee Mapping tab and select the device.
- Search for the employee.
- If they show No Biometric ID, set it to their user ID on the device and click Set.
- If the ID is different from the one on the device, click it and correct it.
- Users listed as Only on Device are not linked to anyone — use Map to....
Also check that the employee's status is active, on probation or on notice. Punches for people who have left are not counted. See Map employees to device user IDs.
5. Is the device locked to an old IP?
If the device button reads Security (IP locked) and your internet IP has changed, the device is refused. Your admins will also have received a notification about it.
- Click Security (IP locked).
- Compare the locked IP with the device's current IP.
- Click Lock to current IP, or update Allowed IPs / ranges and click Save security settings.
The device uploads the punches it kept on its next try. See Secure a biometric device.
6. Are punches being held for review?
If Hold punches older than (days) is set, late uploads wait under Punches held for review on the Punch Logs tab. Click Accept to count them.
7. Is the month locked?
Punches for a month whose payroll has been approved are recorded but don't change that month's attendance. Unlock the payroll if the change must be included.
Still not right?
- If the punch is counted but the status looks wrong (for example a missing punch-out), check the employee's shift and use Re-process day — see View and correct daily attendance.
- Make sure the device's own date, time and time zone are correct. Punches dated more than a day in the future are ignored.
