Connect a ZKTeco biometric device

Point a ZKTeco device at Attendex over ADMS, register its serial number and check that punches arrive.

Attendex works with ZKTeco fingerprint and face devices that support ADMS (also called "push" or "cloud server" mode). The device sends each punch to Attendex over the internet, so there is no software to install at your office.

Before you start

  • You need manage access to attendance.
  • The device must be connected to the internet (LAN cable or Wi-Fi) and allowed to make outgoing HTTP connections on port 80.
  • Note the device's serial number — it is on the label and under the device's system information menu.

Step 1 — Register the device in Attendex

  1. Go to Time & Attendance → Biometric Devices ( open Biometric Devices).
  2. On the Devices tab, click Add Device.
  3. Enter the Serial Number exactly as shown on the device (for example ABDJ220360041).
  4. Optionally add a Device Name (for example Main Entrance) and Model.
  5. Click Save.

Devices whose serial number is not registered — or that are disabled — are ignored, so register the device before you expect punches.

Step 2 — Point the device at Attendex

The ADMS Server URL box at the top of the page shows the address to use. Click Copy if you need it.

  1. On the device, open the menu and go to Comm → ADMS (on some models Comm → Cloud Server Setting).
  2. Turn ADMS / server mode on.
  3. Set Server Address to adms.attendex.in.
  4. Set Port to 80.
  5. Turn off HTTPS / SSL if the device offers it — ADMS devices connect over plain HTTP.
  6. If there is a proxy setting, leave it off unless your network needs one.
  7. Save and restart the device if it asks.

Step 3 — Check the connection

  1. Wait a minute and refresh the Biometric Devices page.
  2. The device should show ● Online, a Last seen time, its IP and firmware version.
  3. Ask someone to punch, then open the Punch Logs tab. The punch appears in Recent Punch Logs within a minute or two.

A device counts as online when it has contacted Attendex in the last two minutes. Offline with Never connected means the device has not reached Attendex yet — see Device punches not showing up.

Step 4 — Map employees

Punches only count once Attendex knows which employee each device user is. Set each employee's Biometric ID (the user ID / PIN on the device) — see Map employees to device user IDs.

Manage devices

  • Disable / Enable stops or resumes accepting punches from a device (for example while it is being repaired).
  • Delete removes the device registration.
  • Security opens the IP lock and punch-check settings — see Secure a biometric device.
Offline devices don't lose punches

If the internet goes down, the device keeps its punches and uploads them when it is back online. Attendex ignores exact duplicates, so re-sent punches are never counted twice.
